Whether you like Twitter or not, here are some things I learned this morning from the Twiteratti.

• Ruud Hein defends Twitter quoting David Allen “If information overload was the issue you’d walk into a library and die. The first time you surf the web, you blow up.”
• Jeremiah posted that the US military has 730 Installations outside of the US Military Bases.
• Participate in Earth Hour tonight at 8 PM. Turn off your electricity for one hour.
• Rich Ord blogged about the downfall of Twitter as it becomes a free way to “promote, promote and promote”: Let’s Be Honest About Twitter (Ord also invited you to follow him on Twitter: RichOrd)
• There is a blogger social in NYC next week. I’d love to go.

I tried to respond to Ord’s blog but the site seemed to crash and I don’t know if my post survived:

If you follow too many people, you don’t have a conversation, you have overload. If you select people to follow out of your field, you gain knowledge fast through quality links. When you follow peers, you keep up with emerging trends and coming events.

Twitter has enriched my online experience. It is the only community that makes me laugh. Twitter also keeps me from blogging. Its a marketing exchange for education and fun.

I added people to follow slowly over time. This helped me get to know the people I follow.

No other social site has connected me to such high-power people. I get messages and email from peeps (twitter people) who would never open an email.

Enjoy life with or without Twitter. You get back what you tweet.

Twitter etiquette varies. Some say you don’t “twit” your own blog post. Others post every post. (That’s how I find so many interesting time-sucking tidbits to read.) I appvove of you tweating your blogs.
